What's Been Going On?

Well, first off, I quit my job at the library in late Oct. Then the ladies at the library had a really cute Nursery Rhymes baby shower for me, with curds and whey, pumpkin pie, strawberries in cream, and humpty dumpty deviled eggs. In mid Nov. my good friend Jenni gave me another baby shower at my Mother-in-Law's house in Candler, NC (west of Asheville). My sister was there and Aunts, and friends from Asheville. Jenni and her Mom made me two beautiful diaper cakes. I will try to post some pictures soon (my main computer's Internet isn't working, so I've been on the laptop since early Nov.) Then later in Nov. my friend from the J.C. Jr. Mon. Club threw me a shower in Johnson City. Her theme was rubber duckies. So baby Helen and myself have definitely been showered with lots of love and gifts. Next month the folks at Mountain Yoga will be throwing me my last shower before the little girl gets here. Four baby showers, not too shabby.
Also, last month was the Night Of Lights Gala at the Hands On Museum. The club I'm in, The Johnson City Junior Monday Club, does the coat check for this event every year. Being quite pregnant at this point, I brought my own chair to help with the coat check so I didn't have to be on my feet the entire time. I left to walk around to bid in the silent auction, take pictures of the tree and wreath I designed, and get a snack, and when I got back I was told that one of the musicians that was there tried to take my chair. Good thing one of the members knew it was my chair and didn't let him get away with it. I would have been one angry pregnant lady.
The theme was Christmas in Wonderland, so pictures of me at the Mad Hatters Tea Party will be posted soon. We got $130 for the Hands On Museum for our tree and wreath. I was really happy we were able to raise so much for the museum.
For Thanksgiving this year we brought our 13 year old Niece with us to Chapel Hill, NC. We had a lovely lunch with our college friends and their son on Wed., spent the evening with Ben's Aunt and Uncle having a home cooked dinner and spending the night, then we went to Ben's Aunt Joan's and Uncle Steve's for the big feast. At Joan's we spent the holiday with Ben's cousins, more Aunts and Uncles, and his Grandma. It was a bit crowded, but the food was delicious as always.
