Preparing For Christmas
I've been sending Christmas cards to all my friends and family for the past two weeks. I got my Christmas shopping done for my family and sent it up with my Dad to Northern Va. for my sister's family. Unfortunately we can't go up there this year because I'm getting close to my due date, which is Jan. 21st. Ben and I baked all our Christmas cookies last weekend and plan to decorate, prepare the plates and tins, and deliver them to our friends and family this week. We saw White Christmas with two other couples on the big screen. I've been to three holiday parties and got to sit on Santa's couch for a professional picture with the old guy. We went to a very raunchy version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show play in Bristol last weekend and a very preachy musical at a local church last night entitled, The Christmas Post. We put up our Christmas tree on Thurs. and are still decorating the house with the creche, Christmas cards, and miscellaneous decorations we've collected over the years. I've been wrapping presents and have a few more stocking stuffers to buy. Christmas Eve we plan to go to Candler, NC to celebrate at my In-Laws house, and Christmas Day Ben and I will have a quiet Christmas at home unwrapping gifts, making a lovely meal to share with a few friends, and attending a church service (if we can't make it on Christmas Eve.) All in all, a different kind of Christmas than traveling to N. Va., but probably more quiet than future Christmas's to come with our new little one expected soon.
